My practice as an oil painter is rooted in place, memory, and lived experience. I am drawn to remote and familiar landscapes alike, travelling to them slowly and intentionally so I can sit, observe, and absorb their atmosphere. In more recent times I have been revisiting by bicycle the places I once played and spent time as a child.

Cycling has become an essential part of this process. Moving through the landscape by bike reconnects me with a sense of freedom that mirrors childhood experience. In these places, I remain, sketch, and reflect, allowing memories and emotions to surface naturally. The act of being present in these locations evokes thoughts about how childhood has changed over time, the simplicity of those early years, and the particular magic that places hold when experienced at a young age.

Through painting, I aim to translate these sketches and memories into works that feel nostalgic, playful, and emotionally resonant. Rather than documenting places as they are, I seek to capture how they are remembered — shaped by time, imagination, and feeling. My work explores the relationship between memory and landscape, and how revisiting familiar places can reconnect us with past versions of ourselves.
